Well, after a long day of travel with a few hiccups Elder and Sister Stewart safely arrived in Kinshasa. They had a slight delay in Paris as well as a medical emergency on their flight into Kinshasa, but everyone is safe and they are excited to be there.
They were able to get into their apartment, which sits nearby the Kinshasa Temple and they're excited to be able to visit. The apartment is still in the process of being furnished but major appliances, a KING bed, and couches are all there. They were also nice enough to stock their fridge before their arrival. Unfortunately, they aren't supposed to drink the water in the apartment and may get a filtration system in a couple months, so they're dealing with buying extra water for consumption, etc.
On a bonus note, they were able to find both popcorn kernels as well as Mt. Dew for purchase, so they should be able to survive their 2 years of service without too many issues.
More posts will start coming once they get their phone service and internet services configured and setup. It's a bit of a lengthy process but they are in contact every so often with the family and keeping us posted on their journey.
So far the most....interesting.....part of their arrival has been the travel/commute. Their words: "It's total mass confusion and chaos yet there is an odd rhythm between the cars, pedestrians, and motorcycles that they make work."
They have met with the mission president and are excited to work with him and the missionaries. They won't really be starting anything in the offices until Monday of next week so they will get settled in the rest of this week, find their shopping locations, get used to the traffic, and prep themselves to hit the ground on Monday.
